Introduction
The Taipei National Palace Museum houses one of the world's greatest collections of Chinese art and artifacts, spanning over 5,000 years of Chinese civilization with over 655,000 pieces. The collection, originally from the Forbidden City in Beijing, was moved to Taiwan during the Chinese Civil War. Highlights include the Jadeite Cabbage, the Meat-shaped Stone, and masterpieces of Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasty painting and calligraphy. The museum's classical Chinese architecture and surrounding gardens are also worth exploring.
