Introduction

Daming Temple is an ancient Buddhist temple in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, with a history of over 1,500 years. It is famous as the place where the Tang Dynasty monk Jianzhen (Ganjin) studied and taught before his epic voyages to Japan to spread Buddhism. The temple features the Qiling Pagoda, which offers panoramic views of Yangzhou and the Grand Canal, and a memorial hall dedicated to Jianzhen. In spring, the cherry blossom grove is a popular attraction.
