Introduction

The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple are located at the foot of Cangshan Mountain near Dali Old Town. The main pagoda, Qianxun Pagoda, was built in the 9th century during the Nanzhao Kingdom and stands 69.13 m tall. The two smaller pagodas were added later. The pagodas have survived numerous earthquakes over the centuries and are the iconic symbol of Dali. The temple complex behind the pagodas is a reconstruction of the original Chongsheng Temple, once the royal temple of the Dali Kingdom.
