Introduction

White Horse Temple (Baima Si) is located 12 km east of Luoyang and is traditionally recognized as the first Buddhist temple in China, founded in 68 AD during the Eastern Han Dynasty. According to legend, two white horses carried Buddhist scriptures from India to Luoyang, and the temple was named in their honor. The temple complex features halls from various dynasties, the Qiyun Pagoda, and international Buddhist temples built by Thai, Myanmar, and Indian communities.
