Introduction

Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring are located 5 km south of Dunhuang. Mingsha (Singing Sand) Mountain is a massive sand dune that produces a rumbling sound when the sand slides — a phenomenon known as 'singing sand.' At the foot of the dune lies Crescent Moon Spring, a crescent-shaped oasis that has miraculously survived for thousands of years in the desert. Visitors can ride camels, sandboard down the dunes, and watch spectacular sunsets over the desert.
