Introduction

The Temple of Heaven is located in Dongcheng District, Beijing. It was the site where Ming and Qing emperors performed sacrificial ceremonies to pray for good harvests. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is famed for the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests — a magnificent triple-eaved circular wooden structure built without a single nail. The Echo Wall and the Circular Mound Altar are fascinating acoustic wonders. The surrounding ancient cypress forest creates a serene atmosphere, and the temple is a masterpiece of Chinese architectural and landscape design.
