Introduction

Leifeng Pagoda is located on Sunset Hill (Xizhao Shan) on the south bank of West Lake. Originally built in 975 AD, the pagoda is famous for the legend of the White Snake — it was said to be where the White Snake spirit was imprisoned. The original pagoda collapsed in 1924 and was rebuilt in 2002 with modern materials, including an elevator. The top floor offers the best panoramic views of West Lake, especially at sunset.
