Introduction

Tiger Leaping Gorge is one of the deepest gorges in the world, located between Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (5,596 m) and Haba Snow Mountain (5,396 m). The Jinsha River (upper Yangtze) thunders through the gorge, dropping over 200 m in just 16 km. The gorge is a world-class hiking destination, with the high trail offering spectacular views of the snow-capped peaks and the roaring river far below. The Tiger Leaping Stone, where a tiger was said to have leaped across the river, is the narrowest point.
