Dazu Rock Carvings
Introduction
Dazu Rock Carvings are located in Dazu District, Chongqing, and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dating from the 9th to 13th centuries, they comprise over 50,000 Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian rock carvings spread across 75 sites. The most famous cluster is at Baoding Mountain, featuring the exquisite 'Thousand-Hand Guanyin' with 1,007 gilded arms and the intricate hell scenes. The carvings are remarkable for their artistic quality, secular themes, and excellent preservation.
